Good Friday morning to everyone,

We have ran through a string of nice weather days across the Southeast US but that is quickly changing as prolonged southwest flow moves deep moisture in western North Carolina.

Water vapor is showing a pronounced tap of Pacific moisture streaming northeast. Meanwhile at around 5000 ft, southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico was increase

Winds just off the surface will remain southwest through the entire week. Initially it will result in just scattered rain showers intermittently and is hard to nail down the exact timing of.

850 mb winds (Friday 7 pm)

By late Sunday and into Monday a new storm system forms across Texas and begins to move northeast. It will act in tandem with the moisture source to produce a more widespread rain for the Carolinas by Monday.

850 mb winds (Monday 7 am)

The rounds of rainfall over the next 3-4 days will add up to amounts of generally 1-2 inches across the Foothills and Western Piedmont. And typical to southwest flow events, locations to our west from the Balsams westward into Northern GA and East Tennessee could find higher amounts of precipitation that may exceed 3 inches. Given the recent dry weather, the flash flood threat should be quite limited in scope east of the Blue Ridge.
