Scattered showers are moving across the mountains and along the I-40 Corridor at 8:30pm. Even in the mountains this precipitation is falling as rain right now.
Upper level energy will move through the area tonight and Wednesday. Most of the associated precipitation will fall as rain outside of the mountains as temperatures below 3000 ft remain safely above freezing tonight.
Colder air will move in around daybreak Wednesday behind a cold front. An additional weak band of precipitation will likely develop across the foothills Wednesday Morning. If the precipitation picks up enough, areas along I-40 and north, could see a brief mix of wet snow mix in with the rain. I expect no accumulations though other than a few extremely isolated dusting reports close to the Blue Ridge. By Wednesday afternoon, look for the sun to reappear. Lows tonight will be in the upper 30’s to around 40°. Highs Wednesday should reach the upper 40’s to around 50°.
