Good Sunday evening to everyone…we have an important blog update on the upcoming Christmas week and weather impacts here in Western North Carolina.

Here’s a look at updated information on the big storm system expected for later this and the resulting arctic blast expected for the Christmas Holiday.
A few days ago computer model guidance was conflicted as to whether some winter weather might occur ahead of the cold blast. That conflict in guidance has been resolved as any low pressure track will be through the Ohio Valley leaving Western North Carolina in the warm sector of the storm system…

The sole focus on Christmas Holiday now is the cold weather as our region could threaten some all-time temperature records for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day…
With the potential of an extended time of below freezing temperatures, it’s prudent to take care of yourself…and especially with families gathering during the holiday impacts from weather will be relatively minimal. That said, don’t let your guard down as well just because of the holidays…

Spending time outdoors may be a bit harder to do with temperatures well below normal, Young children along with elderly are most prone to be adversely impacted by this kind of upcoming cold weather.
If you do plan on being outside…dress in layers!

With the potential impact of cold during the next week, the Winter Storm Index will remain at Level 1 “Social Media Talk”…
