Here Comes The Snow Hype. Let’s Stay Grounded but Ahead of it!

We continue to monitor forecast trends for late next week as a couple of weather systems may impact the region. While there are early signals worth watching, it’s important to keep expectations grounded, especially when discussing any potential winter weather at this range.

Current guidance suggests a favorable large-scale pattern for some form of inclement weather across the Southeast, driven by a sharp upper-level trough that may become cut off from the northern jet stream. This setup would allow colder air to push southward by midweek. A fast-moving clipper-type system could then help establish the pattern ahead of a possible southern-stream disturbance tracking through the southern jet and potentially phasing along the East Coast.

That said, there is still a great deal that remains unresolved—including timing, track, available cold air, and whether any meaningful phasing actually occurs. At this point, we would stop well short of calling this anything resembling a major winter storm. The overall pattern remains progressive, which would favor a quicker-moving system rather than a prolonged event.

In short: there is something on the board, and the pattern is worth watching, but confidence is low and details are far from settled. We’ll continue to analyze new data as it becomes available and refine expectations accordingly.
