Good Thursday to everyone!
Normally when we do a blog entry it is for impactful weather events or weather that isn’t very nice overall. This is one of those exceptions though. We are currently enjoying a lot of sunshine and low humidity, which at this time of the year comes at a premium.

A broad trough of low pressure at 500mb is centered over Pennsylvania and New York moving toward the east. Northwest flow aloft has pushed into the Southeast US and has delivered a nice last couple days of weather.
The general theme will continue for the next 48-60 hours before changes start to occur. Looking at the surface pattern, high pressure over the Great Lakes will allow a northerly breeze to develop over western North Carolina on Thursday and transitioning to northeast during Friday.

Northerly flow will keep very dry weather across the region. Daytime temperatures for Thursday and Friday will be generally in the 79-82 degree range which is just a a smidge below normal for this time of the year.
Looking at the video above, dewpoints are going to bottom out reaching the upper 30’s on Friday. With that kind of dry air in place, those daytime temps will be very pleasant and the night time temperatures will be allowed to bottom out…I wouldn’t rule out a couple upper 40’s north of Interstate 40 on Friday or Saturday mornings.
By Sunday, the surface flow will transition over to southeast as high pressure will be centered off the east coast of the United States. This means a return of low level moisture, ending the comfortable weather. Infact with the upslope orientation, some daytime showers and thunderstorms will be possible Sunday afternoon, setting the stage for a return to more normal weather pattern for next week.

Until then…enjoy the next 48 hours!
