Haha! Yes our First Look Forecast is an April Fools Joke! A snow lovers dream though, right!?
As we start a new work week here is a detailed but brief narrative to go along with our forecast graphics.
Monday: The approach of a powerful cold front from the east-southeast will result in mostly cloudy skies. While a sprinkle in the morning cannot be entirely dismissed, it remains unlikely. Temperature highs are expected around 80°F along I-40 and low 80s along the Highway 74 corridor.
Tuesday: Predominantly cloudy with possible brief sunshine in the morning. The forecast anticipates the arrival of showers and thunderstorms by the evening, extending overnight into Wednesday morning. A line of gusty storms could occur Tuesday night, but severe weather is expected to stay west of the mountains.
Wednesday: Post-front, the area will see clearing skies. Temperatures will start in the upper 60s but will drop throughout the day. This change heralds a transition to colder weather.
Thursday to Sunday: The latter part of the week is forecasted to be quiet but cold, with windy conditions on Thursday and Friday making daytime wind chills potentially drop into the 30s. Despite the strong winds preventing frost on Thursday night, temperatures are expected to near freezing. Dangerous fire conditions will redevelop as well.
Friday night into Saturday might see the coldest temperatures, likely dipping into the low 30s or even the 20s in mountainous areas.
Snow is forecasted for the high country Wednesday but only an inch or two above 4000ft is expected.
Opening day of Trout Season next Saturday looks to be chilly, as normal.
