Good Monday evening to everyone, there is a lot going on in the weather world. First, we have a low pressure running up the East Coast. Down across the Gulf Coast Region moisture is building. Here in Western North Carolina, we have been in-between these features and with the mild, early spring airmass overhead it allowed for warm temperatures today in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s.

The squeeze play will ultimately come to an end as moisture will overrun the region starting late Tuesday and going into the early parts of Wednesday. This is going to be the first of two main features that could dump a significant amount if rainfall over the next 5 days or so…

You can see on the moisture loops how it will be abundant across the Southeast at various points of the week.

After the first rain event ends Wednesday, looks for another mild day on Thursday. Things change quickly on Friday and that will lead to an unsettled first half of the upcoming weekend.

Global model ensembles are quite bullish on precipitation amounts through Saturday. Our region could see five-day rainfall amounts in the 2-4 inch range.
