Foothills Weather Network Forecast Blog – Saturday, October 11, 2025
Good morning, Foothills friends! A coastal storm developing off the Southeast coast is starting to influence our weather. This system, sometimes called a Nor’easter, will slide just inland enough to push clouds, wind and rain back toward the Blue Ridge. Here’s what you need to know:
Tonight and Sunday
Winds increase: A northeast breeze will become noticeable this evening. By tonight and into Sunday, expect sustained winds of 15–20 mph, with gusts up to 35–40 mph. The breeze will be strongest on the ridgetops and foothills exposed to the east. Rain returns: Rain chances ramp up overnight and continue through Sunday. Rainfall amounts will vary: lighter totals near the mountains (generally less than a half inch) and heavier along the Interstate‑77 corridor where 1–2 inches of rain is possible. Even though the rain may be steady at times, it should be beneficial since the area needs moisture. Temperatures: Highs Sunday will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Lows tonight fall into the mid‑50s for most spots.

Early Next Week
Once the coastal system moves north, drier weather will return:
Monday (Columbus Day): Skies clear, and winds relax. Afternoon highs rebound into the mid‑70s. Morning lows will be in the low‑50s. Tuesday: Sunshine dominates with highs warming into the upper 70s to near 80. Overnight lows dip into the lower‑50s. Wednesday: Another sunny day with highs around 80 °F and lows near 50 °F. Thursday & Friday: A weak dry front mid‑week may bring a few clouds but little moisture. Highs trend downward into the lower to mid‑70s by Thursday before rebounding into the mid‑70s on Friday. Morning lows slip into the mid‑40s to lower‑50s.
Across the foothills next week, afternoon highs will range from the upper 60s to around 80, and overnight lows will range from the mid‑40s in the mountains to the upper 50s near Interstate‑77. Expect pleasant autumn days after Sunday’s wet and breezy conditions.
Tropical Update
Out in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Jerry is spinning over the western Atlantic between the Leeward Islands and Bermuda. Jerry is moving northward and is not expected to pose a direct threat to the Carolinas at this time. Farther east, a tropical wave south‑southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands has a low chance (around 30 percent over seven days) of developing as it moves across the central Atlantic. We will continue to monitor these systems, but they are not expected to influence our weather in the foothills over the coming week.
Bottom Line
Expect increasing wind and rain tonight and Sunday as a Nor’easter brushes the coast. Sustained winds 15–20 mph with gusts 35–40 mph are possible Sunday. Rainfall amounts vary: heavier (1–2 inches) near Interstate‑77; lighter (under 0.5 inch) in the mountains. After Sunday, dry and sunny weather returns with highs upper 60s to 80 °F and lows mid‑40s to upper‑50s through the week. Tropical Storm Jerry remains far offshore; a tropical wave has low development chances.
