Southeast Fetch to Develop Monday Ahead of Next Warmup

Good Saturday afternoon to everyone,

We are enjoying a nice weekend for early November standards. Clouds this morning have broken up and provided a good bit of sunshine across western North Carolina. Temperatures are in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s, slightly above normal for the time of the year.

High pressure located over New York state has the region locked in with a light northeast flow at the surface. That will continue for at least the next 24 hours. Expect clouds to increase again late tonight and some fog may develop as well. But with daytime heating, skies will again clear out Sunday afternoon.

Once we get to Monday, high pressure at the surface and aloft will begin to shift off the East Coast of the US and will turn the winds to southeast. That will allow for some moisture convection (movement) back toward the Southern Appalachians.

Guidance is starting to respond to the southeast flow coming into western North Carolina late Monday and into Tuesday by printing out some precipitation across the region. We have adjusted our forecast for Tuesday to reflect the guidance. Also, given the time of year and upslope component, we could be looking at a hybrid-wedge scenario setting up in terms of temperatures for Tuesday. Visit the 7-Day forecast for details…
