Good Wednesday evening,
A very nice weather pattern has taken over the region but over the next 48 hours, a subtle change in the atmosphere may result in more threatening skies…but not yielding much in the way of precipitation.
Tonight on the IR satellite image you can see a bunch of mid and high level clouds across the Southeast US, those will continue to move northeast and thicken some as a shortwave moves across the Gulf Coast region through Friday.
A few days ago there were suggestions in the model guidance that a developed upper low would form across the mid-south along with a surface low cutting from Louisiana eastward to Alabama. Unfortunately guidance has really cut away from that scenario and is showing a weaker, more progressive system cutting along the Gulf Coast over into the Coastal areas of Georgia and South Carolina.
The Bottom Line…
Expect an increase in clouds starting tomorrow and lasting into Friday before the next cold front moved in this weekend…however, rainfall will be limited to some light easterly upslope along the mountains.
