Good Morning. It is Friday February 11th, 2022. It is the 42nd Day of 2022. The sunrise today is at 7:17am and the sunset is at 6:04pm. The days are getting longer much quicker now as we add daylight in the morning and in the evenings. Today will feature 2 minutes and 1 second more daylight than yesterday. Have you noticed the difference?

It is going to be a spectacular weather day today. We hope you are able to get out there and enjoy it. Highs today will be in the mid 60’s and a few places along the SC boarder may touch 70°. You have to go all the way back to January 3rd, 2022 to find temperatures that were this warm. January 3rd featured temperatures in the low 60’s for highs but on January 2nd, most places got up into the mid 70’s. From there we have been stuck in a cooler pattern. We finished January 1.9° below normal overall (Normal is 38.7°, KMRN). Get out there and enjoy the sunshine.

Saturday will feature a few more clouds with a southerly breeze. Temps should climb back up into the 60’s again. A frontal system will approach from the north. As the frontal system passes through Saturday Night into Sunday Morning a few light rain showers will fall and then could change to a little light snow. This will not be a blockbuster type snow by any means but a few slick spots are possible Sunday. As the front approaches the coast, low pressure will develop over or near the Gulf Stream. By this point the arctic front will have passed and as the low develops it could throw some moisture back in over Eastern NC. Right now, it looks like this system will develop too far off short and will be quickly moving away before it has the chance to strengthen. Therefore we will keep the forecast clear and cold for Sunday. We will keep an eye on this though.

The weather will stay fair but chilly through Monday but a gradual warm up commences Tuesday. Another system could bring more rain to the area by Thursday but with temps well above freezing this would be all liquid.

Looking out long range it looks like a lot of up and down temperature swings to finish out Meteorological Winter.
