Let’s take a few moments to talk about in detail about the weather coming up. Holiday travel will be picking up over the next few days, folks heading to their holiday destinations. The good news for here in the Southeast, no major weather events are expected over the next 5-7 days.
A cold front has moved through and is ushering in colder air for Sunday and Monday. Temperatures for this time of the year average in the lower 50’s during the daytime and lower 30’s at night. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday could result in temps at or below normal. But as we get to mid and late week, a moderating trend will shift temps back above normal for Santa’s Arrival…
Low Pressure To Form Along Gulf Coast
The feature on Tuesday Night will spawn an area of low pressure in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico. This storm feature will make a close approach and at the very least will increase clouds on Tuesday after having a sunny Monday. We will keep an eye on the model trends over the next 24 hours but we should remain on the dry side of this system…
Any risk of precipitation should end by Wednesday and that leads to a dry and mild Christmas Eve and Christmas Day…the images below is current guidance temperatures going through the holiday weekend.
Mild Temperatures Dominant So Far This Month
So far this month has been quite mild for the Foothills and Western Piedmont. It’s also been quite dry to boot. Here’s a breakdown of some of the communities in the coverage area.
This abnormally mild weather may continue through the end of 2021. The global teleconnections are hinting at changes going into January but its too early to see how that may impact our weather going into the start of 2022.
