High Pressure, Tranquil Weather Settled In For A While

Good Thursday morning to everyone,

An extended period of dry weather is coming up for the Western Carolinas. I know many people will enjoy this considering how February featured a lot of cloudiness and periods of wet weather.

A look at the Synoptics through early next week shows troughs located off both coasts of the United States. Broad northwest flow at the jet stream level will keep moisture suppressed well far to the south…

This kind of flow pattern in early March is a dry and somewhat chilly for the Carolinas. By Friday night broad high pressure at the surface will be overhead. Along with generally light winds that means sunny skies during the day with chilly nights dependent on where winds can go calm.

By late Monday high pressure will be centered over the Southeast. Things remain dry and on the cold side especially at night.

By the middle to end of next week, high pressure will finally exit off the East Coast and some return flow will allow a warmup in temperatures.

Regardless the next seven days will be pretty much rain free. While that allows things to dry out, it also allows pollen to build up.

Be also mindful that if you do any outdoor burning plans during this stretch, drying ground and low humidity is a good recipe for fire danger. So don’t be irresponsible when doing any outdoor burning.
